Establishment of Environmental Management System
-
Organization
- Incheon International Airport Corporation (IIAC) aims for environment-friendly airport operations. To ensure the independence of environmental management tasks, IIAC has established a dedicated Environmental Management Team responsible for handling environmental issues. The corporation operates the Environmental Management System (ISO 14000s) it has acquired in both airport operations and construction fields.
- The environmental organization is composed of the Environment Management Team that oversees all environmental issues such as waste, water quality, air quality, and aircraft noise, and the Environmental Monitoring Center that operates 24/7 to monitor the airport environment.
- The Environmental Monitoring Center is run by a specialized service provider responsible for inspecting and operating monitoring stations, operating environmental survey vehicles, and analyzing measurement data to ensure thorough airport environment monitoring.
Environmental Management System & Certification
Environmental Management System (ISO 14001)
- The Environmental Management System is a management system where the business entity evaluates the environmental impact of all its activities, sets specific environmental goals, and continuously implements the PDCA (Plan, Do, Check, Act) cycle to improve the environment.
- Incheon International Airport Corporation applies the system—initially certified for airport construction—to airport operations as well, managing and guiding all fields of airport construction and operation to reduce environmental risks continuously.
Environmental Management System Certificate
- Incheon International Airport Corporation acquired the Environmental Management System (ISO 14001) certification from Lloyd’s QA in 1998 for the airport construction sector and for the airport operations sector in 2002.
- By appropriately implementing the ISO standard requirements such as setting environmental goals, assessing major environmental impacts, conducting internal environmental audits, and providing education, IIAC has achieved continuous environmental improvements.
- The corporation ensures the suitability of its Environmental Management System through annual post-certification audits and recertification audits conducted every three years by an external certification body, beginning in 2012.
Environmental Policy

Minimize and improve the environmental impact on surrounding areas arising from airport operations and construction activities.
- 03.
Minimize environmental impact by conserving and recycling resources across various sectors to achieve a resource-circular economy at the airport.
