The construction of the breakwater and site work marked the beginning of an 8-year, 4-month long epic journey. The Phase 1 Construction Project was a grand endeavor that integrated all the advanced construction technologies possessed by Korea at the time. Through the construction of Terminal 1, Runways 1 and 2, aprons, and various auxiliary facilities, Incheon Airport proudly spread its wings towards becoming a global airport capable of competing with airports worldwide.
