Incheon International Airport promotes global cargo strategy at Air Cargo Europe 2025
Incheon International Airport (IIAC) participated in ‘Air Cargo Europe 2025’, the world’s largest air cargo exhibition, held in Munich, Germany from June 2 to 5(local time), promoting the competitiveness of Incheon Airport as an air cargo hub to the global market.
Air Cargo Europe, held biennially and regarded as the premier global air cargo event, welcomed over 400 exhibitors and a record 80,000 attendees this year.
During the exhibition, IIAC operated the “Incheon Airport Pavilion” with three companies in Incheon Airport’s Free Trade Zone-Korean Air, LX Pantos, and Hanjin-showcasing the airport’s strengths including infrastructure and air cargo network.
Over the four-day event, the corporation held more than 30 business meetings with global airlines, airport operators, and logistics to promote its capabilities.
A major outcome of Incheon’s participation was the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Brussels Airport, a rising European cargo hub. As larger airports such as Frankfurt and Amsterdam face regulatory limits on flight operations, mid-sized airports like Brussels are stepping in to accommodate growing air freight needs. Through the MOU, IIAC and Brussels Airport will cooperate on joint marketing, cargo route expansion, operational support, and data exchange.
In addition to formal partnerships, IIAC attracted new service routes from international cargo carriers such as CMA CGM and initiated discussions with India’s Bangalore Airport, which is emerging as a key alternative to China in global manufacturing and logistics. Participating Korean companies also actively pursued new overseas shippers and logistics providers, aiming to expand their global customer base and reduce overdependence on traditional markets.
Hag-Jae Lee, President and CEO of IIAC stated that “With growing geopolitical uncertainty in the Asia-America route, the time has come to diversify our routes and rethink our growth strategy,” said Lee. “Incheon Airport will continue to strengthen its global cargo hub capabilities by building strategic alliances with international airports, airlines, and logistics leaders.”
