Incheon International Airport’s Kinetic Art Installation Wins Global Design Awards
“The Eternal Sky” wins recognition at the Red Dot Design Award, iF Design Award, and IDEA Award
Incheon International Airport Corporation (led by President Lee Hagjae) announced on the 13th that the kinetic sculpture installed in the expanded area of the Terminal 2 won the prestigious “Design Concept” award at the Red Dot Design Award 2024, held in Singapore on October 10. With this award, Incheon Airport has achieved recognition from all three of the world’s most respected design awards: the Red Dot (Germany), iF Design Award (Germany), and IDEA (United States).

Incheon Airport’s winning kinetic art installation, titled The Eternal Sky, represents the movements of endangered animals through its unique design and was created using advanced digital technology. Powered by artificial intelligence and deep learning, the installation integrates real-time data on elements like the sun, clouds, and weather into its visual performance. Its ceiling-mounted structure is moves using advanced robotics, merging art and technology into an immersive digital experience that has captivated audiences and critics alike.

The expanded Terminal 2 area, where this installation is located, also features other cutting-edge technologies. Among them are autonomous flying objects and a large media screen in the arrivals hall displaying live flight information. These additions will be unveiled to the public in the “Phase 4 Grand Opening” planned for the end of this year.
